Congress Orientation

A must for first-timers, a Congress Orientation Session will help make Congress one of the most rewarding experiences of your career! This session is presented by Congress veterans who will show you how to learn, network, and make the most out of your Congress experience.
Orientation is Tuesday, May 25, 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 a.m.

Chapter Exchange

Join us for an interactive networking session where you can meet peers from over 150 APA chapters and three new AAPA chapters. Also, see the presentation of APA's 2010 Chapter Contest Awards. Take this opportunity to meet APA's Board of Advisors from each of the eight regions and discuss how to make your chapter a success. This exciting event takes place during Session 3 on Wednesday, May 26, from 2:15 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. Sponsored for the third consecutive year by iEmployee.


Chapter Hospitality Booth

Be sure to stop by and visit with chapter members from the Baltimore Metropolitan Area, Colonial Capital, Hampton Roads, Richmond, Southwest Virginia, and Washington Metropolitan Area APA & AAPA Chapters. Find out what restaurants, shopping, and site-seeing attractions our nation's capital has to offer. Plus, these host chapters will be organizing other fun excursions.

Chapter Pictorials

Chapter Pictorials have gone electronic! Monitors throughout the convention center will showcase all of the creative and colorful local chapter pictorial presentations that were entered in the 2010 Chapter Pictorial Contest. Each unique photo montage slide show reflects the activities and events APA's individual chapters participated in throughout 2009. New!

Expo

The Expo is the place to learn all about state-of-the-art payroll and accounts payable technologies and tools to implement best practices, operational efficiencies, and cost savings. Educate yourself on today's resources and tomorrow's trends. Accounts Payable General Session

AP shines bright in this special 90-minute session, starting at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday. Join us as we honor the 2010 Accounts Payable Man of the Year and Accounts Payable Woman of the Year, the 2010 Citation of Merit award recipients, and the Accounts Payable Education Grant recipient.

Batmobile

Don't miss one of the most recognizable cars in the world - the original BATMOBILE by Barris Custom. This custom car was designed exclusively for the hit 1966 "Batman" TV show starring Adam West and Burt Ward. Meet Adam West and see the Batmobile on Thursday at the Global Cash Card booth!



Costume Contest

Have you ever daydreamed that you were a superhero or maybe a villain - fighting the day-to-day crimes of your profession? What superhero or villain does your imagination transform you into? Let your superpowers bring you to the 28th Annual Congress Costume Contest where the best will show off their alter image. Choose from the following categories: Best Male Superhero; Best Female Superhero; Best Villain; Best Dynamic Duo or Posse; and The Worst Attempt in a Costume Contest. New for 2010 - the costume contest will be at the Pay Heroes Ka-Pow! Party. Wear your costume all day Thursday or step into the closest phone booth to become your other personality.

Awards Ceremony

Members are the lifeblood of the APA and the AAPA. The success of these associations and the advancement of both the payroll and AP professions could not be possible without the efforts of our volunteers. APA and AAPA will honor these exceptional achievers in special awards ceremonies on Wednesday and Friday.

New Workshops Added to the Lineup

In order to keep up with the ever-changing payroll and accounts payable industries, 40 new workshops have been added to this year's educational lineup. There are more than 170 different workshops to choose from! In addition, we have three new tracks to better meet your educational needs - Thought Leadership, Paying and Making Deductions From Employees, and Payroll Processing.

Congress Today

Begin each day with timely conference news, photos, and schedule updates in your daily Congress newspaper, Congress Today. Look for it every morning, Tuesday through Friday. BNA is the proud sponsor of Congress Today.

Spouse and Guest Information Meeting

All guests of registered participants are invited to a special spouse and guest program on Tuesday, May 25, 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. To help guests make the most of their stay in the Washington, D.C. area, representatives from local attractions will share highlights from some of D.C.'s most popular sites.

RCH/CEU Credits

The American Payroll Association Offers Recertification Credit Hours, Continuing Education Units, and Continuing Professional Education Credits. While attending the 28th Annual Congress, you will receive a thank you letter confirming your attendance and the award of 27 Recertification Credit Hours (RCHs) and 2.7 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). CPPs and FPCs need only place the thank you letter for attending in their Recertification File Folder to earn the RCHs for recertification.

CPE Credits

CPAs seeking CPE credits need to fill out and return a Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit evaluation form and sign in at each workshop. You will receive notification of your CPE credits following the conference. General session and workshop descriptions detail the Field of Study and the number of CPE credits. The Course Level for all workshops is overview. CPAs can earn up to 30 CPE credits by attending/signing into each session and completing the required evaluation form. Obtain a CPE evaluation form at the Information Desk. This information is required by NASBA to be included in the descriptions to assist CPAs in identifying classes they can attend to earn specific CPE credits.
